Tephrocactus geometricus sowing method disclosed.

Almost a year ago.

I ran into a Tephrocactus geometricus conundrum and searched for

Kitchen paper, ziplock, microwave for 2 minutes. The only information I found was that various methods, such as germination after a few years, were in disarray and I was not able to sow the seeds properly.

Picking up moldy seeds, closely observing and breaking down each seed, all the dots of information on the internet were connected,

The method I came up with in the middle of the night in the middle of winter when I was working alone.

This is the first time in the world that this method has been made public, as it is not found anywhere in a search for Tephrocactus geometricus seeding methods.

I would be happy if you could spread the method as the Metabota method.

So, here we go.

Sowing Method

First, soak the seeds in Nemedil or Orthocide solution for about 2 hours. (Soak them.)

I think you can use water, but not too much.

Water will be fine, but it should be sterilized as a spell.

Shelling

Remove the blanched seeds and then shave the tips with a design knife (☟ video).

Shave off the hard end, and finally remove the lid.

The trick is,

Place the seeds and scrape the surface a little at a time.

You will see a white line circled in red along the way,

Shave the surface until it is just barely visible without damaging the seed itself.

The other side is shaved in the same way.

Then, peel off the lid as if you were opening it using the principle of leverage.

Then you should be able to see the inside.

This completes the shell cracking.

After 100 grains or so, my hands are getting tired and my old eyesight is making me fail about 1 to 20% of the time. (Crying)

Soil

For the soil, I put a mixture of “fine red ball” and “Hyponex MagAmp K Base Fertilizer” at the bottom of the pot, and “Jiffy mix” for the topsoil.

The roots are delicate, so be sure to use a fine, soft topsoil.

Then rinse it off in the shower until there is no more fine dust.

I would recommend not to put in the deer clay if you are keeping it indoors, as it causes moss.

I was misled by a lot of information and tried many different soils and formulas, but in the end I found that only red ball three lines and magamp K are sufficient to grow the plants.

Sowing

Stick the tip (the split end) into the soil or place it horizontally.

Then place a clear file to increase moisture retention.

Highly transparent clear files are recommended since the seeds are photophilic.(Advertisement)

If the tip is not damaged by cracking the shell or if it is not a bad seed, it will germinate.

They will germinate as early as the next day or within a week at the latest.

However, they are prone to moss, and if the moss swallows them, even if they sprout, they may rot,

It is better to expose the seedlings to sunlight from time to time, remove moss from the surface from time to time after germination, and allow the seedlings to dry out.

Growing environment after sowing

The growing environment is waist water, indoor LED, and an average temperature of 20 to 30 degrees Celsius.

Once germinated, the temperature may drop to 10-15℃ at night, but it does not seem to have any particular effect.

When to remove the seed shells

Sometimes the shells come off naturally, but half to one-third of the time they do not come off naturally.

In such cases, the timing for removing the seed shells is exquisite,

If the timing is too early, the seeds tend to wither.

If the timing is too late, the seed husks will not be removed and the plants will wither.

If you take them too late, the leaves will be removed and the plant will die.

As a result, even if the buds are a little small, if the husks can be removed, it is better to remove them to increase the survival rate.

The best time is when you pinch the base with tweezers, touch the seed with your hand, and pull it out easily.

If it is too early, you can pull it off by force.

If it is too late, it will not come off no matter what you do, and it will tear off.

Moss

At this level, the moss is still fine, but if it encroaches into the buds, please remove it.

Do not water from the surface, but leave it for a few days with only waist water, and the surface will crack.

The second month

When the sprouts have grown to a certain size

You can remove the moss by flipping the cracked topsoil with tweezers.

After that, wash off the jiffy mix in the shower and replace it with red ball soil.

It is interesting to observe the multiple growth of seedlings.

It takes about 6 months to a year to grow

Finally

The only methods found were using microwave ovens, paper towels, and Ziploc immersion.

We observed the seeds and disassembled them, thinking that these seeds might be hard seeded.

We found the body and also found the lid.
